Buckzy expands European operations with new Amsterdam office - Buckzy Payments Inc.

Canadian fintech leads the way for faster, frictionless cross-border payments at Money 20/20 Europe

Toronto, Canada – 1 June 2022 – Canadian fintech Buckzy Payments Inc, the global real-time cross-border payments network, is expanding its operations in Europe with the opening of a new office this summer in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, the company announced today. Buckzy is also pursuing an EMI license that will enable any participant of the Buckzy Payment Network globally to leverage virtual account services and real-time payments across the Single Euro Payment Area (SEPA), which covers 36 countries and territories in Europe – the 27 EU member states plus the UK, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Monaco, San Marino, Andorra and the Vatican City State.

Commenting on the news, Buckzy President and CEO Abdul Naushad said, “We’re excited to expand Buckzy’s presence and operations in Europe with our new office in Amsterdam, one of the world’s oldest and most respected banking and finance hubs. The new office is a clear statement of our commitment to establish Buckzy as the leading global payments network that banks, financial institutions, neobanks and fintech start-ups across the globe connect to for their real-time cross-border transactions needs.

Naushad continued, “Europe is a mature, technologically advanced market that is also a hotbed of fintech innovation thanks to its adoption of open API technology, which has opened up the financial sector and created opportunities for innovative new companies to provide new products and services. More and more of our customers around the world want to send and receive real-time payments to and from Europe, and we are enabling them to do so.”

Buckzy will be in Amsterdam next week at Money 20/20 Europe, where it will underline the growing value and strategic importance of international real-time cross-border transactions, as banks and other financial service providers, payment companies, and fintechs converge on the RAI Amsterdam Convention Centre for three days of keynote speeches, industry debate, and networking.

Speaking ahead of the conference, Buckzy Chief Operating Officer Carlos Garcia said, “Money 20/20 events are where the innovators of the financial world come to do business, share ideas, and discuss the latest and emerging trends that are shaping and driving the sector. It’s a valuable opportunity for Buckzy to showcase our market-leading real-time cross-border payment network and its features to new and existing customers, prospects, and potential strategic partners.

“More open, harmonized trade plus the increase in borderless e-commerce between countries, markets and regions have accelerated the growth of cross-border payments. Businesses and consumers now expect and rely on banks to offer fast and reliable international payment solutions,” Garcia explained.

“Demand is growing among established financial providers and challenger brands to offer easy-to-use, secure and cost-efficient real-time cross-border transaction functionality to their customers,” he continued.

Buckzy significantly reduces the complexity of connecting multiple local private banking networks across different countries with different financial jurisdictions and regulations. This approach makes the movement of funds between countries faster and easier.

“Buckzy’s ability to integrate and interoperate with the broadest range of local payment and settlements systems is a unique differentiator that gives the company a truly global reach. Buckzy is the gateway for companies and individuals to buy, sell, and exchange funds wherever they are,” concluded Garcia.

Founded in 2018, Buckzy is a privately-held start-up that enables real-time international cross-border payments and Banking-as-a-Service on an embedded finance platform that is secure, scalable, modular and fully compliant.

Financial institutions and fintechs worldwide use the Buckzy network to deliver innovative and modernized financial solutions and service offerings to corporate customers and consumers.

Buckzy’s financial backers include Dash40 Ventures in Toronto: Mistral Venture Partners in Ottawa: Revel Partners in New York City: and Uncorrelated Ventures in San Francisco.

Buckzy is exhibiting at Money 20/20 Europe and will be located at Booth G34, Hall 03.
